Midpoint Reflection-Week 8/9

TITLE: MIDPOINT REFLECTION

How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
I heard that I will work in the gallery for my internship first time,I felt happy but also a little nervous. I thought there will be many work to do and many info to remember in the gallery. But in fact, work in the gallery is a relax thing. I feel comfortable and happy work in my workplace.

What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment?
In the school, all the students like to yell in the hallway and classrooms. During the class, the students like to talk with each other and play with the teacher. In the lunch time, we also talk with each other and laugh loudy. But in the workplace, I never hear someone talk loudly or yell. I feel more peaceful in the workplace.

What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace? Which of these are transferable skills?
I really learn how to use a art system to organize the pictures, and upload the pictures to the website. And I attain many photoshop skills. And some professional words.

What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults? What kinds of communication (verbal and non-verbal skills) have you gained?
My mentor is a amazing and cute woman. She also smile at everybody. I like her cute face.lol. And the co-workers all the nice,cute person. They like to chat with each other during the work time. I also see them eat something and play a joke in the gallery. So I feel relax and comfortable in the gallery everytime.

What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
The most difficult thing to me was speak with others. I am a shy girl. I feel hard to talk with others when I am a strange evironment. I tried to grow my confidence and tried to ask them more questions. Finally, I find that I am easy to talk with them now.

What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
Acturlly I don't have the challenges in the school as a result of the altered schedule that I have to face.

What goals are you working to accomplish during the remaining five weeks of the internship?
I wanna to accomplish all my tasks that my mentor gives to me. And try to help my mentor with her work.

What new things have you learned about New York City?
The fashion area, design area of the New York City is a pretty good point in the NYC.

Week 7 - Second Vocabulary Installment

Begin my Second Vocabulary:

Staff
meaning: A group of persons. As employees, charged with carrying out the work of an establishment or executing some undertaking.
context: They asked me to sign in their gmail and put "staff" for the sign in name. So I ask them why should I put "staff" for sign in name, they explained the meaning of staff to me.

Skillfully
meaning: Having or exercising skill.
context: I heard that they talked about the skillful person.

Motivation
meaning: The act or an instance of motivating.
context: When I research some information about some artists, I saw this word.

Gorgeous
meaning: Splendid or sumptuous in appearance, coloring.
context: There will be a new show in my gallery next week, some of those pictures are gorgeous pictures.
